Jake Miller: Jake has spent nearly a decade helping people understand climate change and make pragmatic efforts in their lives to reverse it. His work has involved data-driven models and projections paired with nuanced and empathetic conversations. For a number of years, he has championed the adoption of electric heat pumps as the least disruptive, most impactful climate action available to thousands across Toronto. Before joining Toronto Home Energy Network, he was the Director of Project Neutral, where he oversaw the redeployment of their carbon footprint calculator and the development of a diversity of climate education programs, most notably Talk Climate to Me, a climate course for women and allies. Jake has led committed teams of staff, students and volunteers to make a difference in their community.
Mohamed Ahmed: Mohamed is the Manager of Climate Action Buildings (Residential & Small Commercial) at Toronto Hydro. With 10 years of experience, including five at Toronto Hydro, Mohamed leads efforts to help residential and small commercial buildings decarbonize to achieve the City of Toronto's net-zero targets. Previously, he supported large customers with electrification and utility planning in Toronto Hydro's Key Accounts team and led asset management improvements and energy budgeting as an Energy Manager at BGIS. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Toronto Metropolitan University and is a licensed Professional Engineer in Ontario (P.Eng).
Trish Long: Trish is the founder of Switch Heat Pumps, a climate-based heating and cooling company that is leading the way on residential heat pumps. With a background in finance, climate policy and energy audits, Trish has always been passionate about up and coming technologies that will modernize our collective skills and make us leaders in the global clean economy. Past positions include Merrill Lynch, Evergreen Brick Works and the Pembina Institute.
Daniel Hall: Daniel is the founding principal of Collaborative Architecture Inc. which is known as Sustainable | Architecture for a Healthy Planet TM Sustainable is an Architecture and Design studio that delivers on a triple-P bottom line of People, Planet, and Prosperity for all of our projects. Sustainable’s expertise lies at the intersection of shelter, low carbon buildings, and affordable construction. Daniel’s background includes 15 years ‘on the tools’ as a licensed carpenter which provides him with an uncommon perspective on how great designs can be realized in practical ways by engaging with the people who design, build, and use our buildings. His area of research includes affordable low carbon solutions to new and retrofit housing and shelter at all scales. Daniel has presented on the topic of affordable low carbon design for the OAA, Passive Buildings Canada, The Buildings Show and coming up will be at the 2025 Interior Design Show. He guest lectures at the University of Toronto and Toronto Metropolitan University.
